OBJECTIVES
- Dance/movement therapy (DMT) is defined by the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) as the psychotherapeutic use of movement to promote emotional, social, cognitive, and physical integration of the individual, for the purpose of improving health and well-being..
Main Learning Goals:
- Increases emotion regulation through body awareness interventions.
- Engages in self-expression and explores openness through movement.
- Improves body image and self-image through positive connection to the body.
- Redefines relationship with the body and movement following diagnosis.
Expected Outcomes
DMT(Dance/Movement Therapy) can help people with physical health by increasing strength, improving flexibility, decreasing muscle tension, and boosting coordination.
